ISTE 2013 Presentations by Rob Zdrojewski

Using Socrative.com to Engage Your Students (BM100)

Monday, 6/24/2013, 8:00am–9:00am, SACC 008AB
(Pre-registration required)
Student response systems (“clickers”) are increasingly becoming a popular technology tool to engage students in classroom activities. However their high cost and steep learning curve prevent many classrooms from utilizing this exciting technology. Learn how Socrative.com aims to change all of this. Socrative is a free web-based student response system that runs on ANY device with a web browser. See how you can use tablets, iPod Touches, smartphones, or laptops as “clickers” instead of investing in the more traditional “one-purpose only” hardware clickers on the market. Please BYOD (bring your own device) and join us for some fun demonstrations of Socrative.com

Students as Mobile News Reporters Using Videolicious iOS app (BM132)

Monday, 6/24/2013, 2:30pm - 3:30pm, SACC 006AB

Digital storytelling at its finest! Create simple newscaster style videos on iOS devices in three steps: choose media, tell your story, choose your music. Recommended by ISTE's SIGTAP. Participants will learn how to use the Videolicious iOS app to create video productions that rival network-news style productions. We will demonstrate the app and showcase student produced work from Amherst Middle School students in our Tech TV program. At the completion of the BYOD session all participants will have created a sample video production titled, “What I Love About ISTE!” that can instantly be shared online. “Everyone has a story, tell yours with Videolicious!”
